Meet the Team: Diana Boyanova
Position: Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant
Location: New Jersey
Joined ORS: August 2013
Alma Mater: Rutgers
Why did you choose ORS?
It was meant to be! Back in the spring of 2012 I was contacted by an acquaintance to work on a short-term assignment. ORS was in its infancy then, and with an infant on my hands I was not looking to go back to work full time just yet. Assignments kept coming and it felt great to be part of building a company surrounded by colleagues who were also my friends. Eventually I joined the team permanently the following year.
What do your family members think you do for work?
My family and friends think I find jobs for people. That is not completely off the mark, but it is much more complex. I provide a service to clients helping them scale, improve hiring processes or developing them when needed.
How would you describe a recruiter versus a talent consultant?
Different ways of describing mostly the same function; I like another term: 'We are management consultants who happen to do recruiting' - quote by our Founder, Terry Williams. We work to understand the business and market landscape, what attracts people to your company (branding, strategies), and why people stay (retention, growth). We improve hiring processes or build new processes when none exist by using a diverse set of tools and tapping on our team’s pool of knowledge.
What has been the most exciting or rewarding project you’ve taken part in while at ORS?
I have worked on many projects over the years – from multi-national, international entities to Series A startups across several industries. There are challenges and rewards in all of them. True success comes when our role is embraced as true partnership, infusing energy at a critical time. Earlier this year a group of dedicated and enthusiastic colleagues led by Luis DeJesus, our DE&I Program Manager and sponsored by our SVP of Operations, Leslie Hafter, started working on a DE&I project – developing the platform from scratch. We are in the final stages and should be releasing the final product by early 2021. Through all the ups and downs of 2020 this project takes the lead under the “excitement and rewards” category. The program will not only serve our team, but our clients too.
What is most challenging about your position?
Our business, like many others, experiences curveballs from time to time. There are times, for example, when roles end up “on hold” after building a solid pipeline. Success in our business is not about winning the race; it is about changing the environment, leaving companies in a better position than when we started; it is about being that change agent – improving our clients and candidates’ lives.

Tell us about something you like to do outside of work.
Travel, reading books, hiking, fairs, and festivals just to name a few things. A year ago my family spent Thanksgiving in Paris – an amazing center of culture, art, food, and surprises (impromptu opera in the street!).

Who or what inspires you?
It may be a cliché but love and beauty inspire me which abound in Nature – watching a leaf swirl down in the air always takes my breath; mallards taking off and landing in a lake with such precision every time; or a mother swallow feeding its baby in a nest. Catching these moments is a true gift!
