Meet the Team: Pete Chimera

Position: Director of Executive Search Team
Location: Doylestown, PA
Joined ORS: September 2015
Alma Mater: Moravian College

Why did you choose ORS?

A well-respected former colleague told me it was a great place to work with a great culture. I really enjoyed meeting with everybody during the interview process and I truly believed that going to ORS would allow me to take my career in a different direction but still move forward. That has certainly been the case after 5 years.

What do your family members think you do for work?

Now that I have been home with my 12-year-old twins, they believe that I am just on Zoom calls all day long.  The rest of my family thinks that I find people jobs and constantly send their friends to me to help. I have placed a few of them over the years.

How would you describe a recruiter versus a talent consultant?

The difference between a recruiter and talent consultant is a recruiter will focus on getting a candidate for the open position. As well as finding a candidate for an open role, a Talent Consultant looks at the business impact of that role.  A Talent Consultant has to really understand the needs of the client and will focus on attracting the best possible candidate for the job. In addition, a Talent Consultant has to stand their ground and not be afraid to say no to a client if they think that either a process or a specific candidate is not the right fit for a company.

What has been the most exciting or rewarding project you’ve taken part in while at ORS?

The most exciting thing since I have joined ORS was the ORS Olympics.  This event included bobsled races with office chairs and cross-country skiing with boxes on your feet. On a more serious note though, five years ago I was tapped to start the ORS Retained Search Team. There were two of us and frankly we were trying to figure it out. Today we have 5 permanent members and utilize other resources from ORS that do a great job assisting us. I can honestly say that we are a true Executive Search Team today that can compete with any Executive Search Team in the country and has had a positive impact on ORS Partners as a whole.

What is most challenging about your position?

The most challenging part of my role is that we talk to many tremendous candidates who are truly successful in their field but only one of them is going to be the right candidate for the job. It is me and my team's goal to make sure every candidate has a great experience with ORS Partners Executive Search Team and is treated fairly and communicated with transparency at every stage of the process. We deliver bad news frequently, but despite that, we work very hard to maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholders.

Tell us about something you like to do outside of work.

My passion is coaching basketball. The past 4 years I have been an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Delaware Valley University. It is a way for me to give back to something that gave me so much joy in my life.

What inspires you?

I have 4 children ages 27, 22, 12 and 12. When I look at them, listen to them, see them succeed and fail, I am truly inspired to be a better person and role model
