Meet the Team: Sarah Early

Position: Talent Manager
Location: Reading, PA
Joined ORS: 2013
Alma Mater:  Penn State University

Why did you choose ORS?

When I started at ORS I had very little experience with recruiting. After interviewing with the team, I could tell that ORS would be an amazing place to learn from others with many years of knowledge and experience in the field. The team here has always been very supportive, and now as a Talent Manager, I am helping others learn and grow in their recruiting careers as well!

What do your family members think you do for work?

Some of my family members will refer to me as a “headhunter.” After almost 8 years, I think they now realize that there is more to it than that!

How would you describe a recruiter versus a talent consultant?

While a recruiter receives a job requisition and works mainly to fill that job, a Talent Consultant typically has a broader focus. Although our number one goal is usually to fill jobs for our clients, a Talent Consultant will also help the client to see and understand any gaps in their hiring process and may even work with the client on employer branding, recruitment marketing, interview training, and more. Whether working on or offsite, a Talent Consultant will also embrace and embody the client’s company culture and is able to speak to candidates in detail about what it is like to work at that company.

What has been the most exciting or rewarding project you’ve taken part in while at ORS?

I don’t think I can pinpoint a certain project that has been the most rewarding. I have enjoyed the variety of client experiences I’ve had over the years. I have had experience helping clients who are both in rapid growth mode and those who are long term partners growing steadily over time. Contributing to a company’s expansion is always rewarding but partnering with a company for several years and seeing that growth over time is also a fulfilling part of my job as a Talent Consultant.

What is most challenging about your position?

The most challenging aspect of being a talent consultant is not always being able to control the outcome of a situation. You always try to do what is best for your client and make the process as seamless as possible, but realistically speaking, we are dealing with real people, as opposed to technology or products that might be easier to manage.

Tell us about something you like to do outside of work.

Prior to the pandemic, I was a spin instructor at my local gym and would attend different group fitness classes, like spinning, kickboxing or barre. Now that I am doing most of my workouts at home, I’ve been doing more strength training and outdoor workouts like riding my bike! My husband and I also love to attend plays (both local and Broadway) – which will also have to wait until theaters open again!

Name something on your bucket list.

Although I've been to Disney World several times, one thing on my bucket list is to participate in one of the Disney 5K runs. I don't think an event like this will be taking place any time soon, so on the bright side, I have lots of time to train!
