Meet the Team: Stephen Simonian
Position: Talent Manager
Location: Telford, PA
Joined ORS: February 2019
Alma Mater: Lebanon Valley College
Why did you choose ORS?
I chose ORS because I viewed working as a consultant as the combination of my two previous jobs: working in agency and corporate. I saw the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with startup organizations, while still being connected to a specific client and representing their brand. Additionally, learning about how to consult with clients was a growth area I saw for myself when joining ORS.
What do your family members think you do for work?
My family fully understands what I do for a living! My dad has been within IT for his entire life and has worked with agencies and recruiters. Also, because I am very close with my family members, they have had the opportunity to hear numerous stories about the recruiting world through the years.
How would you describe a recruiter versus a talent consultant?
I would describe a recruiter as someone who looks for candidates to fill positions by using job boards and Boolean for searches. A talent consultant is someone who not only recruits, but also is able to view an organization from a birds-eye view. They are able to provide recommendations not only in recruiting, but as a business professional as well.
What has been the most exciting or rewarding project you’ve taken part in while at ORS?The most rewarding projects I have taken on at ORS are the growth of my team members. Watching individuals achieve their goals, receive praise, and be successful is what drives me. Sharing my knowledge as a consultant is why I love my job!
What is most challenging about your position?
As a Talent Manager we have numerous responsibilities. Being able to balance account management, managing a team, and recruiting are the biggest challenges I have in my role.
Tell us about something you like to do outside of work.
Family is the number one thing in my life. Whenever I can spend time with my family, I will do so. I also enjoy sports - playing or watching. I had the opportunity to play soccer in college and I continue to play when I can!
Who or what inspires you?
My parents inspire me. Not only as adults and professionals, but as parents. Seeing how they conduct themselves at work has paved the way for my career. Additionally, I wish to grow up to provide for my family like they have provided for me. Being able to instill my children with the values my parents have is something that inspires me daily.
